Homemade Hummus + 6 Flavor Variations
This hummus recipe is the foundation of any flavor variation you'd like to try, or can simply be enjoyed on its own!
BASE INGREDIENTS
- 1.5 cups cooked chickpeas (or 15oz can)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp tahini
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 splash cold water (as needed)
CURRY FLAVOR:
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- OR SUB 1 tbsp curry powder (instead of spices above, do one or the other)
MANGO CURRY FLAVOR:
- 1/2 ripe mango
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp coriander
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- OR SUB 1 tbsp curry powder (instead of spices above, do one or the other)
AVOCADO FLAVOR:
- 1-2 ripe avocados
- 1/2 tsp cumin additional to base recipe, so 1tsp cumin total
LEMON-CORIANDER FLAVOR:
- 1 large bunch coriander, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp lemon juice additional to base recipe, so 4 tbsp lemon juice total
SPINACH-ARTICHOKE FLAVOR:
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 3 artichoke hearts
ROASTED GARLIC FLAVOR:
- 1/2 head roasted garlic peel and roast garlic cloves in olive oil, either on stovetop or in the oven at 400 degreen Fahrenheit
